She is the first Spanish badminton player to win either a silver or a gold medal in international games.
After bowing out of the 2012 London Olympic Games in the group stage, MarÃn got a tattoo of the Olympic rings on her left wrist, which acted as a reminder of the defeat and motivated her to work hard for the next Olympics.
Carolina MarÃn played for the Bangalore team named Banga Beats in the inaugural edition of the Indian badminton League (IBL) in 2013.
In August 2014, she defeated Li Xuerui from China in the BWF World Championships singles final and became the first Spaniard to win a World Championship title and the third European female player to achieve the gold medal.
In April 2015, Carolina MarÃn won her second straight Super Series Premier title, beating Olympic champion Li Xuerui for the second consecutive time at the 2015 Malaysia Open.
After beating India’s Saina Nehwal in August 2015,  Carolina MarÃn won her second in row BWF World Championship title.
