  • When she was a kid, she used to listen to Ramcharitmanas and Sukhmani Sahib.
  • When she was a teenager, she met Dada Lekhraj or lovingly called ‘Brahma Baba’ (founder of the Brahma Kumari organisation). At that time, Brahma Baba had started a spiritual organisation with the name ‘Om Mandli.’
  • Dadi Janki was influenced by the working of Om Mandli, and she wanted to join the group, but her parents were not happy with her decision.
  • Later, Dadi Janki had an arranged marriage. She was influenced and motivated by the working of Brahma Baba, so, in 1937, she escaped from her home.

  • From 1937 to 1951, more and more devotees; especially women joined the group. After the independence of India, in 1950, the Brahma Kumaris organisation shifted from Karachi, Pakistan to Mount Abu, India.

  • Dadi Janki, along with other Brahma Kumaris, travelled to various cities in India to impart the spiritual education. As a result, more and more people joined the group. During these services, Dadi Janki was mentored by Brahma Kumari, Mateshwari (fondly called as Mamma).
  • After the demise of Mamma and Brahma Baba in 1965 and 1969, respectively, the responsibility of running the organisation was on the Dadis (elderly Brahma Kumaris) including Dadi Janki.
  • To start the spiritual services in foreign countries, Dadi Janki visited London in 1974. Initially, she was hesitant; as she was not well-versed with the English language. Later, the first European Brahma Kumaris organisation was opened in London.

  • In 1978, Dadi Janki was declared as the most stable mind in the world by the scientists of the Medical and Science Research Institute at the University of Texas, USA. [3]Speaking Tree Their reports stated,

Her mental state remained completely undisturbed even while performing complicated mental exercises. The EEG (Electroencephalogram) of Dadi Janki continuously showed Delta waves, while she was cooking, while eating, while giving a lecture, while doing arithmetical calculations, while taking, while sleeping, all the time!”

  • In 1997, a charitable trust ‘Janki Foundation for Global Health Care’ was opened in London.
  • In 2004, she was awarded the Grand Cordon of the First Order of Al Istiklal (the Medal of Independence) by HM King Abdullah ll of Jordan for her humanitarian services to the world.
  • In August 2007, Dadi Janki Became the Chief Administrator of the organisation, after Dadi Prakashmani Ji, (the then Chief Administrator of Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University BKWSU) passed away.

  • In 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appointed her as the brand ambassador of the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.’
