He was born and raised in the Capital City of India- Delhi.
His family originally belongs to Hyderabad and they shifted to Delhi before India’s partition.
He grew up in a joint family and they also owned the Golcha cinema in Daryagunj, Delhi.Â
He was raised by his mother and uncle; as he lost his father early in life.
After completing his graduation, he started preparing for the Civil Service Examination and cleared the exam in his 1st attempt. However, he was selected for the Indian Police Service (IPS). He gave another attempt and was selected for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
In 1984, Madhavrao Scindia (the then Railway Minister) asked him to become part of his Personal Staff and he did a lot of work for the modernization of Railways.
